Our Story
We would like to introduce our (APSU) organization, which established in light of the legislation and laws of non-governmental organizations in Iraq. It is an independent non-profit organization concerned with developing water and environmental sectors and preserving their sustainability in the implementation of the sustainable development goals SDGs, especially the sixth goal of them (Ensure access to water and sanitation for all). The United Nations approved this goal as lofty goals that all humankind agreed upon and the means to achieve them, as global goals to work to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
The organization inspired its name “أبـســـــــو “in Arabic, ” APSU ” in English and ” 𒍪 𒀊 ” in Sumerian ” from the ancient Mesopotamian beliefs and myths, meaning in the Sumerian language, (which is the first language of Mesopotamia), the God of fresh water. Water is the origin of life and development on earth, and its waters that were built on the banks of the civilizations of countries Mesopotamia since the dawn of time.
The organization seeks to actively participate in the development of the water and environment sectors, to progress the capabilities of its workers. Also, to work with national, regional and international organizations concerned with water, the environment and sustainable development. As well as looking forward to taking advantage of the global openness in water issues that are adopted by countries and international organizations and benefiting from the expansion programs offered by competent organization. This effort adopted by countries and organizations, especially the United Nations and its development agencies, through the sustainable development goals.
Let’s collaborate and mobilize all available resources to achieve water and environmental sustainability and we look forward to working together in achieving our stated goals.
