APSU organization attended June, 9-10 2021 by APSU member Fatin Hameed Kamel, water peace security (WPS) joint program conducted in collaboration of Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR) in Iraq and Netherlands government which organized by Iraqi Embassy in the Netherlands. The joint program provides a comprehensive approach towards building a shared understanding of the water situation in Iraq and related challenges. The program consists of five workshops that will be continued to February 2022.  In the first workshop, the participants discussed the analysis of water resources in the country and they identified the intervening factors that determine the link between water and conflict. The key water issues were described in these sessions such as water integrated governance, salinity levels in river water, water allocated between provinces, an insufficient supply of good quality drinking water, and rural to urban migration.
